Tubes with Steel Supports

To create the tubes, corrugated drainage pipe and dryer venting hose were painted in layers of latex. Different shapes and sometimes gauze was added to ends of the pipe or hose. The latex was then pulled off, turning it inside out, and creating the exterior texture. These tubes were then draped through rings forged at the end of steel rods. Something in the piece implies the capacity for movement, creating a suggestion that, at some point, the relaxed mouths of the tubes might discern a prey, and begin an unstoppable slither towards it.
