Subjugation and Perceived Harmony

Two steel supports stand five feet apart, one holding a motor, the other, a marble ring, and small steel balls. These separate parts are connected by a pulley system. Taut springs tether the marble ring in place. The motor relentlessly forces it to move, to constantly rise and fall, indifferent to the tension caused. The steel balls are hostage to both the motion of the motor and the movement of the ring, sliding round and round in an endless circle. The sound produced is a rhythmic, lulling, white noise that is also displaced from its source through tiny mics which capture the noise of the machine and release it through a speaker, yards away.
